Steve’s Top7 Takeaways of the Exodus Cry (www.exoduscry.com) Abolition Summit – Session 4 where Kirk Bennett spoke about listening to God and the Isaiah 61 call to reach out to those in need.
[Book of Isaiah, Chapter 61]
“The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of His splendor.”
TOP7 Takeaways I enjoyed listening to Kirk Bennett and here are a few of the notes and takeaways that I got from the abolition summit session with Kirk.
Follow Him – Session 4:
1 Walk the Walk – We have to do more than we say. Kirk said, “If we pray but don’t do, that is hypocrisy; but if we do without praying, we don’t do what He is doing”
2 Justice – “Justice is not an abstract noun. Justice is a Man [Jesus]”. Also a big takeaway from some of his stories and words were that justice should be joyful. Jesus has joy in freeing his people. Kirk told some amazing stories of freedom in Africa because bold women were acting for Justice not in their own strength but by being connected in the Spirit. This protected them greatly also.
3 Jesus not just physical freedom – In the Bible it says the reason that Jesus releases the prisoners is so “they may worship Him.”
4 Small Prophecy – God gives us small words and prophecy and not the whole thing because we would try to do things without him. It is too much for this blog post but new testament prophets vs old testament is quite different. All are to ask for gifts of prophecy in the new testament and in the end times, he will pour out his spirit on all flesh, including dreams and visions.
5 No Prayers too Small – Even what seems feeble and small to us, God loves and listens to and honors. Kirk told a wild story about a small house of prayer in Portland OR that was in the same building with an adjacent wall to a strip club. Long story short, the strip club went out of business and a secret tunnel and enclosed room was discovered in the nightclub. The landlord ended up allowing the house of prayer to take over the whole building without debt and gave them sound equipment. They have now shown the Exodus Cry Nefarious film on the wall where they took down the strip poles.
6 Why am I blogging 🙂 – We are so busy trying to organize things and do them and then God to bless them. He may bless some of them because they are what He is doing anyway but most He wont bless. He wants us to spend time with Him. He wants us and He will give us the jobs to do.If something works it is from him, if it doesn’t it wasn’t Him. Makes me wonder why I am blogging at 2 am LOL. It may be better spent just spending time alone with Him.
7 Follow Him no matter what – In Matthew 4:18-19 His justice movement came when He came to earth. He said Follow me. The new disciples didn’t ask where he is going as far as we know. They just quit their jobs. We are trying to organize our spiritual life. It doesn’t work. He messes up your plans. You think its Satan but its Jesus. God loves us too much.
Kirk said, “You get your voice in the wilderness. Amen we should go to a conference. No. God is saying Amen you need to go to the wilderness. God is taking us back to our roots. Follow Me. Follow me.”
Are you ready to walk into the wilderness to better hear from God? Not a bad idea. I may just do that…:)
LORD, Thank you for all your blessings in my life. Help me to better hear from You and to pay attention to those words, visions and dreams you give me so that I may do YOUR WILL & not mine. Help me to take the wilderness steps I need to do to hear your voice more clearly through all the static of the secular world that weighs me down Let me follow you wherever you go, let me walk in the Isaiah 61 anointing to preach the good news and do acts of justice to your splendor. Your servant, Steve
